The law provides that an injured worker can change their doctor one time per claim. In most instances, the change is limited to a doctor of the same specialty that is not affiliated with the original doctor, and is chosen by the insurance company. In some circumstances, such as when a request for a change in physician is made but is not timely responded to, the injured work may choose their new physician. There are other manners by which additional doctors can become active in your case. For example, one doctor may refer you to another doctor, and so on.
