How long does a workers’ compensation claim last?

There is no set cut-off date to a workers’ compensation claim as long as the injured worker is routinely receiving medical treatment and/or compensation benefits. However, a statute of limitations exists which essentially gives the injured worker two years of initial coverage. Each time the injured worker receives medical treatment or compensation, their claim is extended for a period of one year. Thus, we tell our clients to make sure they receive treatment from their authorized doctor no less frequently than every 6 months.
